marching season 2009
The Eagle Pride competed in the UIL AA State Marching Contest, Monday, November 2nd, in the San Antonio. The Eagle Pride received a Division 1 rating at the UIL Region 7 Contest in Glen Rose, which advanced them to the UIL AA Area Contest in Georgetown on October 31st.
At the Area Contest the Eagle Pride took 3rd place honors which advanced them to the finals round that night which consisted of the top 7 AA bands of the 17 in attendance. After finals were completed, the Eagle Pride was ranked 2nd, and advanced to the UIL State Contest. Also advancing from Area D are: 1. Clifton and 3. Ballinger. This is a great achievement for the Eagle Pride, and will hopefully be the first of many.

On November 2nd, the Eagle Pride participated in preliminary competitions held at the Alamodome, and finished 12th out of the 18 bands. The top 7 advanced to finals to eventually crown Queen City as the 2009 State Champion [this is QCHS's 3rd consecutive title].
Altough the Eagle Pride did not make finals, the hard work and dedication of its student members made the people of Rio Vista very proud to have its band be ranked in the top 10% of Texas AA Bands.
Way to go Eagle Pride!!!

About the show: In this year's show, "Arabesque," each movement plays with three definitions of the word "Arabesque." Using a combination of drill, visuals, and music, we attempt to represent the definition of each movement. The music of our show is taken from two Cirque du Soleil shows: Quidam & La Nouba, as well as the Danse Baccanale from Camile Saint-Saens' opera: Samson & Delilah. Here are the movements and their definitions:

Summer Rehearsals this year were absolutely the best they have been in the 10 years I have been with the Eagle Pride. We have an excellent, hard-working, & cohesive group, and after the great deal of work done in the past month of rehearsals, I have little doubt we will impress many this year!
