  • Works with students on study habits, self-concept, divorce, grief, conflict resolution, improving academic performance, and more
  • Meets new students to help them adjust to school if needed
  • Explains test scores to parents and teachers
  • Talks with parents , teachers, and much more

(*To Parents-The school counselor's role is a support person to help your child be successful. There is nothing "therapeutic" about the interaction)

When do I see a Counselor?

  • When I have good/bad news to share
  • When I have trouble with my friends or making friends
  • When I have trouble with my school work
  • When I have problems with my brothers and sisters
  • When I have trouble getting along with others
  • When I just need to talk to someone or report bullying

(*Information that is shared stays confidential unless there is imminent

threat of harm to self or others then a counselor has the ethical and legal

responsibility to disclose information and get the child or individual help)

  • My teacher can ask the counselor to see me.
