Rio Vista Local Scholarship Application

The following local scholarships are available to graduating seniors. Please place an “X” next to the scholarship(s) for which you are applying. The scholarship committees will only consider complete applications.
 
 
_____ American Red Cross
Amount: TBD - Recipient must have volunteered to work the blood drives a minimum of 8 hours and donate (or have someone donate in your name) at least two times this year.
 
 
_____ Athletic Booster Club
Amount: TBD - Recipient must have lettered in one or more sports and have been in the athletic program as a senior. Parent/Guardian must be an active member of the Booster Club.
 
 
_____ City of Rio Vista Waste Management
Amount: $500 minimum - Recipient must have completed a coherent sequence of CTE classes and earned an Industry Based Certification. Only students attending a trade of technical school are eligible.
 
 
_____ First Baptist Church of Rio Vista
Amount: $500 - Recipient must complete FBC application form in addition to the RVHS local
application.
 
 
_____ Johnson County Republican Women Pollie Guthire Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $2500 - return application and essay to Mrs. Durst 
 
_____ Johnson County Campus Development Foundation Scholarship
Amount: $1000 - Two academic scholarships will be awarded & four scholarships for technical programs. Eligible students must be attending Hill College. 
 
_____ JT Tipping Memorial Scholarship
Amount: 3,000 - Recipient must attend a four year university, junior college or trade school. Include along with a copy of the local scholarship application and essay, proof of total household income. (previous year’s tax return, W2, etc.)
 
_____ Lowell Smith Sr. Alumni Scholarship
Amount: $2000 - Recipient must be entering college in a major related to the medical field. Recipient must have attended RVHS for two years.
 
_____ Mustang Foundation 
Amount: $2000 - Recipient must have attended RVHS for two years 
 
_____ Pinnacle Bank
Amount: $500 -Recipient must be a graduating senior of Rio Vista High School and must have completed 3 consecutive semesters at RVISD beginning the junior year. The student must be committed to furthering their education, display good citizenship, be of high moral and ethical standing. Student must be capable of doing credible college work. 
 
 
_____ Rio Vista Masonic Lodge 
Amount: $1000 - Recipient must attend a four year university, junior college or trade school. Include along with a copy of the local scholarship application and essay, proof of total household income. (previous year’s tax return, W2, etc.)
 
_____ Rio Vista Alumni Scholarship
Amount: TBD - Recipient must attend a four year university, junior college or trade school. Recipients are required to attend the ex-students banquet held on June 13th . Include, in addition to your local scholarship application, an essay about your experience at Rio Vista ISD. Include how long you have been a student at RVISD, and list all previous RVHS alumni that are your family. 
 
______ Rio Vista High School FFA Booster Club
Amount - TBD - FFA Boosters will award one scholarship - amount to be determined - requires standard application 
 
______ Rio Vista High School Band Booster Club
Amount - TBD - Band Boosters will award one scholarship - amount to be determined - requires standard application 
 
_____ Texas Patriots Tea Party Rick Hope Scholarship
Amount: $1000, $500 & $250 - open to all seniors in Johnson county - must complete Tea Party application and write an essay. 
 
 
 
Rio Vista ISD Local Scholarship Application Instructions
 
Select the scholarship(s) for which you are applying. Make sure you read the requirements for each scholarship. 
 
 
Complete all sections of the scholarship application. All sections must be completed to be considered for any local scholarships. 
 
Type a letter to the scholarship selection committee explaining your future education and career plans and the preparations you have made to meet your goals. Letter should be no more than two pages, 12 point font, times new roman and double spaced. Complete any additional essays required for certain scholarships. Follow the same formatting guidelines. 
 
 
Two letters of recommendation are required. One of these letters must be from a past or current Rio Vista High School teacher.
 
 
Attach a copy of your transcript. You MUST fill out a transcript request through your Parchment account. 
 
Place the application, required essay and any other additional information required in a large brown envelope and write “Local Scholarship Application” on the outside and return to Mrs. Durst by indicated deadline date. 
 
 
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE TURNED INTO MRS. DURST OFFICE BY 1:00 PM, MONDAY, APRIL 19th. ABSOLUTELY NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE AND TIME.

Don't Mess With Texas Scholarship

 

Mississippi Excellence in Teaching Program
For students who aspire to be English or math teachers. A full ride scholarship which includes a tablet computer and a $6,000 study abroad experience. Must attend Ol' Miss or Mississippi State University. Must have ACT of 28 to be considered a competitive applicant. Find the application on the website: http://metp.org/

Scholarships available for students pursuing a construction related trade certification or construction degree. 
 
Texas Dove Hunter's Association
