Dual Credit

DUAL CREDIT 24-25
Rio Vista High School will be offering dual credit courses through Hill College and McMurry University for the 24-25 school year. Dual credit allows a high school student to earn college credit and high school credit concurrently. The majority of the dual credit courses are taught online. Students must be self-motivated and be able to meet deadlines to be successful in a dual credit course. Dual credit courses are taught at the pace and rigor of regular college courses  Dual credit students will be expected to conduct themselves as a college student. Students will be responsible for communicating any concerns or questions with their Hill College or McMurry University instructor via email, Blackboard Account, phone, or making arrangements to meet with the instructor.

Parents are responsible for the cost of tuition and any required textbooks. The current tuition rates are attached below.  If a student enrolls in a dual credit course and drops or earns below a 70 (C) in the course, the student will be placed on academic probation and must sit out a semester before they will be allowed to re-enroll in any dual credit classes.  If a student who has been placed on academic probation drops or fails any subsequent classes the student will no longer be allowed to take any dual credit classes.

Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment

The TSI Assessment is a program designed to help institutions determine if a student is ready for college-level course work in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. It will also help determine what type of course or intervention will best meet the needs of a student to help them become better prepared for college-level course work if they are not ready.
